Torticollis, or stiff neck, is a range of disorders that exhibit the neck to move beyond its standard positioning.
Torticollis occurs from trauma or develops slowly.
Babies can also be born with the condition.
If your family has a history of the condition, it is known as spasmodic torticollis.
This type of stiff neck has a typical characteristic of spontaneous contractions of the neck leaving the individual with abnormal movements or awkward positioning which typically begins between the ages of 31-50.
If left untreated, it can become permanent.
The symptoms of torticollis are:
- Inability to move your head normally
- Pain
- Stiffness
- Headaches

- Swollen neck muscles.
Children with torticollis may have delayed motor skills or difficulty with hearing and vision.
